Shaolin Masters Performance and Benefit

Join us in celebrating the first kung fu school owned by a Shaolin monk in Washington state! Master Zhou, a 34th generation Shaolin Temple warrior monk, recently opened his kung fu school in Bellevue. Master Zhou entered the Shaolin Temple at age 10 after studying at a Shaolin school for three years.   Master Zhou was chosen to represent the Temple in performances in 10 countries, which gave him the opportunity to see other parts of the world. He then left Shaolin Temple in 2007 to teach at a school in the United States in order to help raise awareness of Shaolin Chan Buddhism and kung fu.

After teaching for three years in the San Francisco Bay area, Master Zhou realized that he wanted to spread the skills and philosophy of Shaolin kung fu and open his own kung fu school. With several Shaolin monks teaching in the San Francisco area, he looked for another city with a large international community.

He set his sights on the Greater Seattle area.   Master Zhou opened the Seattle Shaolin Kung fu Academy two years ago, but recently moved into a larger facility in Bellevue.   To show their support, Master Zhou's brother monks will make the trip from California and all over the world to perform for the occasion and celebrate the Grand Opening. The “sneak peek” performance is FREE to the public on May 19, 2013 from 10 am to 3 pm. The performance includes Dragon and Lion dances, traditional Shaolin kung fu fist forms, animal forms, and weapon forms.  The school is located at 13241 NE 20th St. in Bellevue. More information on the school is available on their website:

In addition to supporting Master Zhou's grand opening, the ten Shaolin kung fu masters will donate a performance to benefit both Seattle Children’s Hospital and Kin On Health Care Center. The performance will be on Sunday May 19th from 6-9pm and will be $30 per person, which will include a full course dinner (vegetarian options available). The House of Hong Restaurant is graciously providing its facilities and  proceeds will benefit Seattle Children's Hospital and Kin On Health Care Center.
